About this calculator
Calculate the materials for any concrete pour — a roof slab, footing, beam or column — from its size or volume. Pick the mix and reinforcement type to include steel and the full cost.
How it's calculated
- Dry volume = wet volume × 1.54
- Cement bags = dry volume × 1 ÷ (sum of ratio) ÷ 1.25
- Sand / crush = dry volume × their share of the ratio
- Water = cement (kg) × water–cement ratio
- Steel ≈ volume (m³) × kg/m³ for the member type
How many bags of cement in 1 m³ of 1:2:4 concrete?
About 6.2 bags (50 kg), with 15.5 cft sand and 31 cft crush.
How much steel for a slab?
Typically 80–100 kg per m³ of slab concrete; the drawings give the exact figure.
