About this test
Check compaction on site: enter the sand-cone or core-cutter data, the moisture content and the lab MDD. The sheet gives the field dry density and the degree of compaction with a pass/fail against your requirement.
How it's calculated
- Hole volume = (sand used − sand in cone) ÷ sand density
- Dry density = wet mass ÷ volume ÷ (1 + w)
- Compaction % = field dry density ÷ MDD × 100
