About this test
Get the specific gravity of soil solids (Gs) from pycnometer weighings, corrected to 20 °C. Gs is needed for void ratio, degree of saturation and the zero-air-voids line in compaction tests.
How it's calculated
- Gs = (W2 − W1) ÷ [(W4 − W1) − (W3 − W2)] × K
- K = density of water at test temperature ÷ density at 20 °C
Results are calculated from the values you enter using standard formulas. Download the PDF to keep a record. For certified testing, design or construction, talk to our engineers.
